Hard work, innovation and a love of nature are all important parts of the Thimberland® story. And they have been since its inception.
In 1973 the original waterproof boot (Waterproof) was invented, and it was called “Timberland”. They were sturdy, very well assembled and – thanks to the innovative injection-mold technique, which was new to the shoe industry at the time – gave them great resistance to the elements. These premium “yellow boots” set new standards for the performance of “Waterproof” technology in the footwear industry. They soon became equally popular with outdoor and exploration enthusiasts, who needed protection in all kinds of weather conditions, and workers who needed rugged, reliable gear, as well as many others who just wanted a great looking pair of boots.
